The Role As the Overseer, you will be responsible for overseeing farm operations across two properties spanning roughly 10,000 acres, currently running 350 Angus breeders plus followers. All livestock movements are conducted using horses and well-trained working dogs. Your role will encompass undertaking livestock programs while supporting biosecurity measures to protect the herd. You will apply agricultural techniques aimed at enhancing productivity and yield, while also implementing effective grazing and pasture management strategies that promote sustainability. In addition, you will operate various machinery, including sprayers, tractors, and earthmoving equipment. You will be expected to maintain the machinery, infrastructure, and other assets to a high standard. Planning, managing, and implementing operational maintenance programs will be key aspects of your responsibilities. Reporting to the Farm Manager in Southern NSW, you will help implement strategies designed to optimise farm operations across the region. A strong emphasis will be placed on contributing to employee logistics and contractor management, further bolstering team efficiency. You will also play a vital role in the ongoing development of the farm and its people, aligning with the core values of the business. In this position, overseeing, managing, and instructing contractors will be necessary for the successful provision of fencing, spraying, tractor works, and pest control activities, ultimately supporting the farm's overall productivity and success. The Offer A competitive salary package will be negotiated with the selected candidate. In addition, a comfortable three-bedroom home will be provided, featuring reverse cycle air conditioning, a wood fire, and well-established, easy-care gardens with a secure house yard on the property. A work vehicle and a dog food allowance will also be included. The property has horse paddocks and stables, as well as a cool room. A primary school is located 20 kilometres away in Ellerston, and there is a school bus route from Ellerston to Scone for high school options. The town of Murrundi is 50 kilometres away, while the larger towns of Scone and Tamworth are within a one-and-a-half-hour drive and offer plenty of grocery stores, hospitals, and other amenities. The Ideal Candidate You will have sound knowledge of agricultural practices, sheep and cattle management and farm operations, along with the following skills and attributes: Valid Chemcert and current driver's licence Own working dog team and horses Proficient in using Agriwebb or a similar program Computer literacy for budgeting, record keeping, data analysis and reporting The ability to operate heavy farm machinery with a strong mechanical aptitude Able to maintain and build new fences, including exclusion/Weston style fences You must be adaptable and have sound problem-solving skills The ability to work independently and be confident in making business and operational decisions A firearms licence is advantageous Register your interest If you feel that you’re the right fit for this position, please submit an up-to-date resume along with the contact details of 3 references.
