Superintendent - Operations Queensland Metals – George Fisher Mine Mount Isa, Queensland, Australia Ref. No. 100964 The Role Reporting to the Operations Manager, we now have an exciting opportunity for an Operations Superintendent to join our George Fisher Mine Team. This role will provide leadership and clear vision for the operation working with the mining operational teams to provide support and oversight ensuring the mine plan is safely executed. The Operations Superintendent will be responsible for monitoring and correcting sources of operational variance, contractor management, contract administration, coordination of site projects, and maintaining operational presence to ensure business objectives are achieved. This role is offered on a 5:2; 4:3 work roster (9-day fortnight), however a FIFO option is available for the right candidate, whether you’re local or looking for FIFO opportunities, this could be the perfect fit. Work roster would be determined based on operational needs. Responsibilities include (however not limited to): Act as Alternate Manager, assuming the statutory obligations and responsibilities of the Underground Mine Manager when required, as per MQSHA s.53-54Responsible for safety leadership across GFM, ensuring the health and safety of the team through clear governance, accountability, and the implementation of robust, sustainable, and auditable systems. This includes actively promoting a positive safety culture, conducting physical observations of the work environment and team behaviours, role modelling high safety standards through visible leadership, and managing incidents and investigations to ensure timely and effective resolution.Working with the mine operations and engineering teams in the execution of short and mid-term schedules to achieve business objectives. The Operations Superintendent will play a key role in maintaining operational compliance to plan.Identify and execute business opportunities to improve processes, provide cost-saving initiatives, increase revenue, or streamline activities. Ensure that the operation has the correct resources to carry out the work successfully.Responsible for monitoring and reporting sources of operational variance and ensuring mitigating actions are in place.Management and administration of site operations teams, contractors and contracts.Coordination of small projects that sit outside the scope of the operations team.Ensure actions and improvements from the site safety register are managed and closed out within the designated timeframe. About You: Hold a QLD First Class Mine Managers Certificate of Competence for Underground Metalliferous Mines (or be able to obtain within 6 months)Proven leadership experience in underground hard rock mining operations.Experience working with and managing mining operational teams.Degree or equivalent Degree in Engineering, with a preference for mining will be highly regarded.Proficient in the use Microsoft Office software.A minimum of 6 years underground hard rock mining experience. Or a minimum of 4 years underground hard rock mining and a combined mining experience of 10 years.Demonstrated knowledge of risk management, safety systems and legislative requirements for underground metalliferous mining.Exposure to Emergency Response or Mines Rescue will be highly regarded.Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and cross-functional coordination skills.Have the ability to perform under pressure and make quality decisions.You will be safety focused, team oriented and enjoy continuous improvement whilst being results driven.
