We’re now seeking a seasoned and strategic infrastructure leader to join our Project Development team as Program Director . This senior leadership opportunity offers real influence, overseeing major project packages including the Sunshine Superhub and freight network enhancements. If you’re a respected operator within the rail infrastructure sector—confident navigating government, alliance environments, and large-scale delivery landscapes—this role puts you at the centre of Victoria’s next generation of transport infrastructure. Lead With Influence As Program Director, you will: Lead V/Line’s planning, delivery, and assurance of a suite of high-value infrastructure projects across Victoria’s regional rail network. Represent V/Line in high-level forums including alliance leadership teams, senior government stakeholder groups, and steering committees. Build, shape and guide a delivery-focused team, mentoring two Senior Project Managers and engaging a broader technical and operational network. Manage ARO (Accredited Rail Operator) deliverables and stakeholder interfaces while ensuring system integration, rail safety compliance, and project assurance. Provide commercial and strategic oversight of design input, scope definition, risk mitigation, governance and reporting activities. Operate with maturity and professionalism in a fluid delivery environment, where reporting lines, project priorities, and political context evolve. This is a role for a leader who supports and enables high-performing teams, offering guidance and vision while trusting experts to manage day-to-day delivery. Who We’re Looking For You bring: Extensive senior-level experience in the planning and delivery of major rail infrastructure, including involvement with an Alliance or similar large-scale programs. Proven capability to lead multi-disciplinary teams within politically complex, high-risk environments. Commercial acumen and deep technical understanding, with the ability to reconcile competing approaches and maintain momentum. Credibility and composure under pressure, with a track record of engaging stakeholders at the highest levels. A people-first leadership style, committed to supporting and empowering delivery teams through clarity and trust. You’re known for taking a long view, setting direction, and calmly guiding complex programs to success.
