Position Purpose The Commercial Management Accountant will be integral to reshaping the finance function within Pinot & Picasso ANZ. This role is critical in owning the day-to-day financial operations while supporting commercial decision-making and strategic planning. With potential to outsource transactional tasks such as accounts payable, receivable, and payroll, this is a hands-on role suited to a self-motivated, detail-oriented accountant who thrives in a dynamic, fast-scaling environment. The role will oversee both Australian and New Zealand financial accounts, ensuring consistency and compliance across the region. Key Responsibilities Financial Accounting & Compliance End-to-end ownership of accounting function using Xero Monthly financial close, including reconciliations, journals, and accruals Preparation of monthly P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reports Oversee or manage payroll processing (outsourced or internal) Ensure BAS, PAYG, superannuation and statutory compliance Liaise with external accountants and ATO as needed Manage pinotandpicasso.com.au inbox Oversee all ANZ financial accounts, ensuring consistency across AU and NZ entities Budgeting, Forecasting & Commercial Support Develop and monitor budgets and rolling forecasts across ANZ Conduct variance analysis and provide commentary Track performance of company-owned studios and support Regional GM with insights Monitor royalties, stock, franchise fees and intercompany transactions Provide commercial input on pricing, marketing initiatives, and cost control Systems & Process Improvement Administer Xero, payroll platforms, and relevant finance systems Identify opportunities for automation and process efficiency Set up reporting tools and dashboards to support operational teams Evaluate and manage outsourced finance services (AP, AR, Payroll) Strategic Projects & Business Partnering Support the General Manager with financial modelling and business cases Contribute to cross-functional initiatives involving operations, marketing, and expansion Assist in setting up or refining systems and processes for new studio openings Prepare financial reports for board, leadership and investor updates Key Selection Criteria Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field CA or CPA qualified (or working toward completion) 4-6 years’ experience in financial and/or management accounting roles Experience in SMEs, sole-charge roles or franchise/retail environments highly regarded Technical Skills Advanced knowledge of Xero and Excel (modelling, pivot tables, dashboards) Familiarity with cloud-based tools (e.g. Deputy, Monday.com, Stripe) is a plus Confident in end-to-end finance ownership and process creation Accounts Payable and Payroll experience desirable Soft Skills Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Comfortable working independently and proactively Commercially minded and operationally aware High level of confidentiality and attention to detail
