Overview
Macdonald & Company has been exclusively retained to hire a Vice President of Construction for one of the top multifamily developer-builders in the country. Responsible for leading the construction operations across the Dallas–Fort Worth region. With five deals currently under construction and three more in preconstruction, this is a hands-on leadership role for someone who knows how to move fast, elevate standards, and drive performance across multiple fronts, we require someone who’s present, engaged, and driving accountability from preconstruction through delivery.
Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of multifamily construction from preconstruction and project planning through vertical execution, delivery, and closeout.
- Manage and develop a high-performing construction team including project managers, superintendents, and support staff. Set the tone and lead from the front.
- Take full ownership of the preconstruction process. Improve budgeting, scheduling, constructability reviews, buyout strategies, and design coordination.
- Audit, refine, and implement construction procedures and operating standards to improve efficiency, consistency, and scalability.
- Be present on the ground. Support your teams, remove roadblocks, and drive results — not just from the office, but in the field.
- Work closely with internal development, design, and executive teams to align project execution with business and financial goals.
- Ensure every project meets the highest standards in build quality, safety compliance, and on-time, on-budget delivery.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven senior construction leader with 10+ years of experience delivering ground-up multifamily projects.
- Experience overseeing large-scale, multi-project portfolios ($100M+).
- Strong background in preconstruction, scheduling, cost control, and GC operations.
- A hands-on leader who drives urgency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Strong communicator and team builder with the ability to lead across departments and disciplines.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to implement structure in a fast-moving, growing organization
