UON’s business centres around the design, manufacturing, supply, construction and maintenance of remote, off-grid power and water infrastructure, with many of the products manufactured in UON’s Malaga facility, based on proprietary and patented designs. We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to join our team in Malaga, WA. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, directing and coordinating procurement and purchasing activities to ensure the efficient acquisition of materials, products and services required to support business operations. This is a fulltime ongoing position working 38 hours per week. Main tasks: Determining, implementing and monitoring procurement and purchasing strategies, policies and plans to support organisational objectives. Negotiating and managing supplier contracts to achieve quality, cost and delivery requirements. Developing and maintaining supplier relationships to ensure continuity of supply and optimal commercial outcomes. Monitoring procurement activities and purchasing processes to ensure compliance with company policies and operational requirements. Preparing and implementing inventory management plans to maintain required stock levels while minimising costs. Reviewing and monitoring storage and inventory control systems to ensure efficient stock management and supply availability. Overseeing purchasing and inventory recording systems to ensure accurate tracking of materials, supplies and finished goods. Analysing purchasing trends, supplier performance and market conditions to identify opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements. Liaising with internal stakeholders to identify procurement requirements and ensure timely supply of products and services. Coordinating procurement activities associated with transportation, logistics and distribution requirements. Directing and supervising procurement staff, allocating duties and monitoring performance against established objectives. Ensuring purchasing activities support operational efficiency, project requirements and customer expectations. Preparing procurement reports, forecasts, budgets and recommendations for management. Performing any additional duties as required from time to time. Perform any additional tasks as required from time to time. Required/Relevant Qualifications & Work Experience: Bachelor’s degree (or higher qualification) in Supply Chain Management, Business, Commerce, Procurement, Logistics or a related discipline. Alternatively, at least five years of relevant procurement, purchasing or supply chain management experience may substitute for the formal qualification. Required/Relevant Skills & Knowledge: Strong contract negotiation and supplier relationship management skills Demonstrated experience in procurement planning, supplier management, contract negotiation and inventory control Experience working within a medium to large organisation managing procurement functions and purchasing operations. Ability to develop and implement procurement strategies, policies and procedures. Sound knowledge of purchasing, inventory management and stock control systems. Strong analytical, commercial and problem-solving skills. Ability to assess supplier performance and identify cost optimisation opportunities Excellent organisational and time management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong leadership and people management capabilities. High attention to detail and accuracy Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and procurement management systems Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
