Admin / Accounts About the Role BJ's Timber Flooring is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented admin & accounts employee to oversee the company's financial administration, reporting, compliance, payroll, and credit management functions. This pivotal role supports the Owner and General Manager in maintaining strong financial controls while contributing to the efficient day-to-day operations of the business. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing accounting processes, ensuring regulatory compliance, delivering accurate financial reporting, and supporting continuous business improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities Financial Management & Control Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. Perform bank reconciliations and credit card management. Allocate customer payments and maintain accurate financial records. Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS). Ensure compliance with Australian Taxation Office (ATO) requirements. Process End of Financial Year (EOFY) journal entries in conjunction with external accountants. Prepare supplier payment runs and manage supplier accounts. Manage petty cash and prepare bank deposits. Process goods returned for credit. Administration & Customer Service Customer account maintenance, data entry, and invoicing. Provide customer service relating to accounts and order enquiries. Answer incoming telephone enquiries as required. Process supplier invoices and goods receipting. Verify goods received against purchase orders and supplier invoices. Maintain customer and supplier pricing structures within accounting systems. Support stock control activities, including daily, monthly, and annual stocktakes. Payroll & Employee Administration Prepare and process payroll accurately and on time. Manage Single Touch Payroll (STP) reporting. Administer superannuation payments and reporting. Maintain employee leave balances and reporting. Credit Management Manage customer credit facilities in conjunction with the General Manager. Assess and process credit account applications. Monitor debtor performance and outstanding accounts. Manage credit reporting and compliance requirements. Reporting & Compliance Prepare monthly End of Month (EOM) financial reports and checklists. Prepare End of Financial Year (EOFY) reports and reconciliations. Assist with financial analysis and business reporting. Maintain compliance with company policies and financial procedures. Logistics & Reconciliations Manage freight account reconciliations and balances. Ensure accurate recording and reconciliation of logistics-related expenses. Business Support & BAS Preparation Prepare BAS returns for associated entities Quality & Continuous Improvement Assist in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of company procedures, systems, and operational guidelines. Support initiatives to improve financial accuracy, efficiency, and internal controls. Workplace Health & Safety Demonstrate leadership in workplace health and safety. Maintain high standards of housekeeping and safe work practices. Contribute to a positive safety culture across the business. Skills & Experience Essential Previous experience in a Financial Controller, Bookkeeper, or similar role. Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards, BAS, payroll, and ATO compliance requirements. Experience managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Strong organisational and time-management skills. Excellent communication and customer service abilities. Advanced computer literacy and accounting software experience. Desirable Experience within manufacturing, flooring, timber, construction, or distribution industries.
