About Us H-E Parts Engineering is part of the H-E Parts International group, a division of Hitachi Construction Machinery. We provide precision machining services to the Mining, Maritime, Oil & Gas, and Industrial sectors. Based at our Naval Base workshop, we operate some of the largest and most advanced machining equipment in Western Australia, including Mazatrol, Fanuc, Okuma and Siemens-controlled machines. We are committed to developing the next generation of skilled tradespeople and are seeking a motivated Apprentice Machinist to join our team. The Opportunity This is an exciting opportunity for a school leaver or someone looking to start a career in engineering and machining. As an Apprentice Machinist, you will work alongside experienced tradespeople while completing a nationally recognised apprenticeship. You will learn how to manufacture, repair and machine components used in heavy industry, developing valuable technical and practical skills that will set you up for a rewarding long-term career. What You Will Learn Safe operation of workshop machinery and equipment Manual and CNC machining processes Reading and interpreting engineering drawings Precision measurement and inspection techniques Use of hand tools and machining equipment Quality control and manufacturing standards Workplace health and safety practices About You We are looking for someone who: Has a genuine interest in engineering, manufacturing or mechanical trades Enjoys hands-on practical work Has strong attention to detail Demonstrates a positive attitude and willingness to learn Is reliable, punctual and committed Works well as part of a team Has completed, or is nearing completion of, Year 10, 11 or 12 Previous workshop experience is not required, although any exposure to metalwork, engineering, woodworking, automotive, robotics, CAD/CAM, STEM programs or similar interests will be highly regarded. A short cover letter explaining why you are interested in becoming a machinist and why you would like to complete your apprenticeship with H-E Parts Engineering. A photo and short description of something you have made, repaired, modified, built, designed, programmed, or assembled. This could include a school project, metalwork or woodworking project, robotics project, CAD drawing, 3D print, vehicle repair, computer build, LEGO Technic model, or any other hands-on project that demonstrates your interest in making, building, or problem-solving. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend interviews. Final candidates will then be required to complete a two-week work experience placement at our Naval Base workshop as an extension of the interview process. This placement will provide candidates with the opportunity to experience the role firsthand while allowing us to assess their attitude, reliability, safety awareness, willingness to learn, and suitability for an apprenticeship with H-E Parts Engineering.
