An exciting opportunity exists for a dedicated Registered Nurse to join the Community Health team within Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District on a part-time permanent basis. Nurse Audiometry services are provided across Community Health Centres throughout the district, supporting improved hearing outcomes for children and families. In this role, you will be responsible for the delivery of safe, effective, and client-centred clinical audiometry services, with a primary focus on children aged 3–12 years residing within NBMLHD. As the Registered Nurse, you will provide comprehensive hearing assessment services across a range of community settings. Your work will involve obtaining detailed health histories from clients and families, undertaking otoscopy, performing tympanometry and acoustic reflex testing, and conducting pure tone audiometry including both air and bone conduction assessments. You will apply masking when clinically indicated and undertake free field testing where required. A key component of the role involves accurately interpreting assessment findings, developing appropriate management plans, and facilitating referrals to relevant services to support optimal client outcomes. You will work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and engage closely with children, families, and carers to ensure care is responsive and appropriate to individual needs. What you will bring to the role Current registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) with demonstrated experience and clinical skill in audiometry nursing as a Registered Nurse, including completion of a new graduate Registered Nurse program or equivalent experience working as a Registered Nurse. Demonstrated skills and experience working in the provision of comprehensive hearing health assessments and services to clients, their families and carers, with a focus on, but not limited to, children aged 3 – 12 years of age. Demonstrated capacity to provide effective nursing care that is person centred, family inclusive and culturally sensitive to people accessing health services, and an ability to liaise with other health professionals to facilitate case management and care planning. Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise work and an ability to effectively work both within a team and autonomously. Demonstrated effective communication skills (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated commitment to professional development, evidence-based practice and an awareness of changes within the health care environment. Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to utilise information technology systems within a variety of applications (e.g. Cerner) and commitment to undertake training in electronic health record systems as required. Current valid NSW State driver's licence (including P1 or above) and willingness to use for work purposes. This may include driving long distances across the LHD.
