As a Switchboard Operator, you will play a critical role in keeping our hospital communicating smoothly, safely, and efficiently. In this position, you will answer and transfer incoming calls promptly, respond to and escalate emergency calls such as medical emergencies and fire alerts, and ensure accurate entry of patient discharges and transfers into the iPM system. You will also maintain up to date paging database, rosters, and contact details for departments and staff, helping clinical and support teams stay connected when it matters most. What you will bring to the role Current experience using a multi-extension switchboard and demonstrated ability to manage multiple calls simultaneously Demonstrated good verbal communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills Demonstrated ability to clearly convey written messages as well as maintain electronic and hard-copy documents / databases Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and in a multi-disciplinary team environment Demonstrated computer literacy including proficient keyboard and data entry skills Willingness and ability to work a 24 hour rotating roster with demonstrated ability to be flexible Ability to organise and set work priorities to meet department requirements in a high-pressured, busy and demanding environment Experience in a frontline customer service role and the ability to effectively use problem solving and negotiation skills Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.
