About the Department The Department of Industry, Science and Resources (the Department) is undertaking statutory reviews of the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA) and the National Offshore Petroleum Titles Administrator (NOPTA). The Department is seeking one Lead Writer to provide writing and report development support to the statutory review taskforce. The Lead Writer will develop high-quality review outputs that are clear, well-structured and suitable for government audiences. The role requires demonstrated experience preparing complex written products, including reports, findings, recommendations, briefings, submissions or similar material. Key Duties Lead the preparation of written review products, including report sections, findings, conclusions, recommendations, summaries and briefing material. Synthesise evidence, stakeholder input and assessment findings from multiple workstreams. Translate complex technical, regulatory, legal and operational material into accessible written content. Support a coherent report structure, narrative and evidence base across the statutory review outputs. Work collaboratively with review leadership, assessment teams, technical experts and subject matter experts. Ability to synthesise information from multiple sources into clear, well-structured and evidence-based written content. Ability to work with complex policy, regulatory, legal, technical or operational material. Ability to work with subject matter experts to check facts, clarify issues and accurately reflect technical input. Strong judgement and analytical skills, including the ability to identify key issues, themes, risks and gaps. Ability to work collaboratively with review teams, assessment leads, subject matter experts and stakeholders. Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver quality written products within agreed timeframes. Experience working in government, regulatory, policy, review, inquiry, evaluation or similar environments. Desirable Experience supporting reviews, inquiries, evaluations or similar time-limited work. Experience working with regulatory, compliance, governance or administrative decision-making material. Experience working with stakeholder submissions or consultation material. Experience working with legal, regulatory or legislative material. Knowledge of the offshore energy, offshore petroleum, greenhouse gas storage or resources sectors. Understanding of APS advice, briefing and decision-making processes.
