Primary Objective: Provide consultant level management of inpatients admitted with Gastrointestinal and Hepatology conditions within Royal Darwin Hospital and Palmerston Regional Hospital. This will encompass the assessment of acute inpatients, appropriate investigation and formulation of a management plan. High level of leadership and management skills will be required to supervise and support a team of junior staff and nurses to coordinate care of a large number of Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Hepatology outpatients. An exceptional understanding of complex discharge planning and willingness to engage ambulatory care services will be required in our challenging environment. Participation in elective endoscopy lists, on-call roster is also expected, and remote outreach may be required. Selection will be made at the SHMO, FEL or SC level depending on the experience and qualifications of the successful applicant. One vacancy is available, working in Darwin and Palmerston.
