Senior Project Engineer – Study Management Key Highlights 12-month contract with likely extension into execution Major open-pit gold life-of-mine extension study Lead multidisciplinary technical teams and external consultants The Opportunity An experienced Senior Project Engineer is required to support the delivery of a major feasibility study for an open-pit gold operation. The study is focused on extending the life of the operation and includes a further pit cutback, construction of a tailings storage facility and expansion of supporting site infrastructure. The initial contract is for 12 months, with a strong likelihood of extension for a further 6–12 months as the project progresses toward execution. Key Responsibilities Own the end-to-end delivery of Life of Mine studies across the sustaining and brownfields project portfolio, from initial scoping to the final study reports and investment recommendation packages. Develop and maintain study execution plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring studies are delivered on time, within scope, and to the standard required for capital approval. Scope, procure, and manage external consultants and specialist advisors, including preparation of briefs, review of deliverables, and management of consultant performance and contract obligations. Coordinate cross-functional study teams — including geology, mine planning, metallurgy, infrastructure, and project controls — to ensure integrated and internally consistent study outputs. Ensure study estimates, schedules, and risk registers are developed to the appropriate level of accuracy for the study class, in accordance with company standards and industry best practice. Champion and continuously improve study management frameworks, templates, governance processes, and reporting standards across the organisation. Prepare and present study progress reports, gate review documentation, and investment papers for senior leadership and capital approval committees. Identify, assess, and track study-level risks and opportunities, ensuring appropriate mitigation strategies are developed and reflected in study outputs. Support the Study Manager in developing and maintaining the department’s business continuity, knowledge management, and succession planning practices. Ensure all study activities are conducted in alignment with the company’s project management framework, governance requirements, and relevant regulatory obligations. Experience Required Tertiary qualification in Mining, Geology, Metallurgy, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline Strong experience in project engineering, study management or technical services Demonstrated delivery of pre-feasibility and feasibility studies Mining, minerals processing or resources-sector experience Experience coordinating geology, mine planning, metallurgy, infrastructure and project controls inputs Ability to manage consultants and specialist technical advisors Exposure to capital estimating, scheduling, risk management and investment approvals Open-pit mining or gold-sector experience is highly regarded Previous international project experience is beneficial but not essential Systems and Technical Skills Strong Microsoft Office and Excel capability Exposure to MS Project or Primavera P6 Familiarity with project management systems and governance frameworks Experience with SharePoint or similar document management platforms Contract Details Initial 12-month contract Likely extension into project execution Preferred commencement in August or earlier Competitive daily rate plus superannuation For more info, contact Doug: M E
