About the Role In this position, you will play a key role in maintaining the City’s parks and infrastructure assets while supporting and guiding team members in delivering high-quality services to the community. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include: • Undertaking daily maintenance of the City’s parks, reserves and associated infrastructure assets. • Providing supervision, guidance and on-the-job training to Leading Hands, General Hands and new employees. • Operating and maintaining plant, tools and other equipment in a safe and efficient manner. • Completing required documentation manually and via smart devices, including individual timesheets and work orders. • Carrying out turf management activities including broadleaf and selective spraying, fertiliser application and wetting agent treatments. • Liaising professionally with colleagues, contractors and members of the public. • Undertaking tasks and responsibilities as directed by the Supervisor. • Participating in training and development activities as required to effectively perform the role. • Ensuring compliance with all City policies, procedures and relevant legislation. • Exercising duty of care in accordance with the City’s Work Health and Safety policies and procedures. About You We’re looking for someone who can lead from the front, work well in a team and bring solid parks maintenance experience. To succeed in this role, you’ll have: • A Trade Certificate in Turf Management, Amenity Horticulture or equivalent qualification. • Experience operating multifunction plant and equipment. • Sound knowledge of turf maintenance practices and quality control procedures. • Experience using information systems and technology to efficiently manage work tasks and documentation. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • The ability to lead a team while also contributing effectively as a team member. • The physical capability to undertake manual labour associated with parks maintenance work. • A minimum MR (Medium Rigid) class driver’s licence. • A positive and proactive approach to change, with a willingness to work across service units within the City where operationally required. • Knowledge of the practical application of Work Heath and Safety measures, including hazard identification in parks and reserves. • A valid Construction Industry Safety Awareness (White Card).
