ABOUT US: True North Personnel is a Darwin-founded recruitment business built on genuine relationships, practical industry knowledge, and a deep commitment to supporting the Northern Territory workforce. We partner with clients across civil, construction, trades, labour hire, and professional services to deliver fast, reliable, and people-focused recruitment solutions that match the right people with the right opportunities. Our approach is straightforward: we listen, move with urgency, and we follow through. Whether we are supporting a project mobilisation, filling a critical site role, or helping a candidate take the next step in their career, we focus on honest communication, quality service, and long-term outcomes. As a locally owned NT business, we understand the pace, challenges, and opportunities of recruiting in the Territory, and we are proud to play a part in building strong teams across the region. ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY: We’re looking for an experienced Recruitment Consultant to join us on a 6-month contract, with the possibility of extension for the right person. You’ll step into a busy, hands-on role supporting both temporary workforce and permanent recruitment across a variety of sectors in the NT. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage the full end-to-end recruitment process across multiple temporary and permanent roles, from job brief through to placement and post-placement follow-up. Partner closely with clients to understand their workforce requirements, project timelines, site needs, and role expectations, providing practical recruitment advice and responsive support. Develop clear, engaging job advertisements and publish roles across relevant job boards, social media channels, and candidate attraction platforms. Proactively identify, attract, and engage suitable candidates through database searches, job boards, social media, networking, referrals, and targeted talent pooling. Screen, shortlist, and interview candidates to assess overall suitability for client requirements. Complete reference checks, compliance checks, candidate documentation, and onboarding activities to ensure placements are ready for work and meet client expectations. Build and maintain strong candidate pipelines for temporary workforce requirements, including short-notice placements, project peaks, and ongoing site coverage. Coordinate fast-paced project and site mobilisations. Maintain regular communication with candidates and clients throughout the recruitment process, delivering a high level of service aligned with our people-first approach. Keep recruitment systems and records up to date. ABOUT YOU: Previous experience in agency recruitment, labour hire, or a similar fast-paced recruitment environment, with confidence managing roles from brief through to placement. Experience recruiting across trades, construction, civil, labour hire, or professional services will be highly regarded, although strong recruitment fundamentals and relationship skills are most important. A proven ability to manage a busy recruitment desk, balance competing priorities, and respond quickly to changing client and candidate needs. Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to build trust quickly with clients and candidates. Highly organised, reliable, and solutions-focused, with strong time management skills and the ability to stay calm and productive in a fast-paced environment. A proactive, resilient, and results-driven approach, with the confidence to take ownership of your desk and follow through on commitments. A positive team mindset, with a willingness to actively engage, collaborate, and contribute to a supportive, fun, and high-performing workplace culture. WHY YOU WILL LOVE THIS ROLE Step into a warm, active desk with live roles, existing client relationships, and the opportunity to make an immediate impact. Take ownership of the full end-to-end recruitment process and drive results across temporary, permanent, blue-collar, and white-collar recruitment. Earn a competitive hourly rate of $45–$50 per hour, with a generous performance-based bonus structure that rewards strong outcomes. Start immediately and join a fast-growing, locally owned NT business with strong momentum in the market. Work with supportive, no-nonsense leadership that values honesty, accountability, initiative, and getting things done.
