PLC Fencing is seeking a capable Tube Laser Operator / Technician to join our manufacturing team at Monarto South. This is a hands-on production role operating a modern CNC tube laser used to process pipe, RHS, SHS and other steel sections for fencing, construction and infrastructure projects. This is not a basic button-pushing role. We are looking for someone who wants to understand the machine, improve output, maintain quality and develop into a highly capable technical operator. For the right person, there is a clear pathway into a full Tube Laser Technician role, including programming support, machine optimisation, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, quality control and production improvement. The role would suit someone with experience in CNC machinery, laser cutting, steel processing, fabrication, manufacturing or machine operation. We are also open to a mechanically minded person with the right attitude, attention to detail and willingness to learn. Key responsibilities Operate a CNC tube laser to cut pipe, RHS, SHS and other steel sections Load, unload and handle steel safely and efficiently Read job information, drawings and cut requirements Check cut quality, dimensions and finished parts Maintain accurate production records Carry out daily machine checks, cleaning and basic maintenance Work with supervisors and programmers to improve machine output Identify issues early and help solve practical production problems Follow workplace health and safety requirements at all times What we are looking for Experience operating CNC, laser, plasma, saw, punch, press, fabrication or other industrial machinery Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving ability Ability to read basic drawings, measurements and job instructions Good attention to detail and pride in accurate work Reliable, punctual and able to work independently Safe approach to handling steel, machinery and workshop equipment Willingness to learn and develop into a more technical role Highly regarded Tube laser, laser cutting or CNC machinery experience Forklift licence Overhead crane or gantry experience Fabrication, welding or steel processing background Experience with production software, nesting, CAD/CAM or machine programming Basic maintenance or fault-finding experience What we offer Full-time, stable role with a growing South Australian manufacturing business Modern tube laser equipment and a developing production capability Genuine pathway from operator into technician-level responsibility Training and support for the right person Varied work across fencing, construction, infrastructure and custom steel processing Opportunity to help shape processes as the machine capability grows This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants more than a standard machine operator role and is ready to build technical capability in a modern steel processing environment.
