The position requires a highly experienced GIS professional with extensive expertise in enterprise geospatial capabilities, typically supported by a relevant tertiary qualification (Bachelor’s degree or higher) and more than 12 years of industry experience. The contractor must demonstrate strong capability in the integration, sustainment, and operation of enterprise GIS, along with proven experience in delivering insights and models that inform organisational decision-making. A deep understanding of Defence or Intelligence domains, GIS deployment patterns, and stakeholder engagement at senior levels is essential, as well as experience providing strategic advice and oversight on geospatial capability development. Requirements In addition, the role requires strong leadership, communication, and governance skills consistent with a Level 4 practitioner, including the ability to influence organisational directions, manage complex work across technical and business domains, and guide capability evolution. Candidates should be adept at translating business requirements into Foundation Geospatial and GIS outcomes, maintaining relationships with senior stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with standards and policies. Relevant industry certifications and the ability to obtain and maintain an appropriate security clearance are also required, with desirable attributes including recognition within the geospatial profession and experience contributing to broader industry practices. · Demonstrated extensive experience (typically 12 years) in enterprise GIS and geospatial data, including integration, sustainment, and operation of geospatial capabilities. · Relevant tertiary qualification in geospatial science, GIS, or related discipline (Bachelor’s degree or higher). · Proven ability to provide strategic leadership, governance, and oversight of complex GIS environments and business functions. · Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, including influencing senior decision-makers across Defence or government organisations. · Experience delivering analytical insights, models, and advice to support organisational and capability decision-making. · Deep understanding of enterprise GIS architectures, deployment patterns, and geospatial data management practices. · Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into effective geospatial capability outcomes and improvements. · Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. · Knowledge of Defence, intelligence, or government operating environments (highly desirable).
