Location: Hermannsburg, NT 0872 Salary: $80k plus 12% Superannuation Position: Full time, Permanent Tjuwanpa Outstation Resource Centre (Aboriginal Corporation), plays a significant role in supporting the Western Arrarnta people residing across 37 outstations near Ntaria (Hermannsburg) in the Northern Territory. Situated approximately 130 kilometres west of Alice Springs, the organisation services over 4,500 square kilometres of Aboriginal Land Trust land. Since its establishment in 1984, Tjuwanpa has been responsible for administering government-funded programs relating to housing, water infrastructure, electricity, and employment services. The organisation has built a strong reputation for effective governance, sound operational management, and meaningful community engagement. As a leading provider of Indigenous employment and support services in the region, Tjuwanpa is seeking a committed and community-focused Community Worker to join its team. In this role, you will support employment initiatives and broader community development programs for the Western Arrarnta people. The position requires a culturally aware and proactive individual who can work effectively within remote community settings. You will contribute to improving individual and community outcomes by facilitating access to employment pathways, social services, and essential support systems. Key Responsibilities: Deliver culturally appropriate support services to community members, particularly in relation to employment and personal development Encourage participation in employment programs, training opportunities, and community initiatives Conduct individual assessments to identify employment barriers and develop tailored employment plans Assist job seekers with resumes, applications, interview preparation, and job readiness skills Establish and maintain strong relationships with local employers to support job placement opportunities Provide ongoing support to individuals who have secured employment to promote job retention Plan and deliver workshops and training sessions aligned with community needs Work collaboratively with outstation residents to address barriers to employment and implement practical solutions Maintain accurate records of services delivered, community engagement activities, and outcomes achieved ·Provide support in crisis situations and refer individuals to appropriate services where required Advocate for community members to ensure their needs are effectively represented Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of community engagement strategies Qualifications and Experience: AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma with at least one year relevant experience At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications Demonstrated experience in community services, preferably within Indigenous communities Strong understanding of the cultural, social, and economic challenges in remote Aboriginal communities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport Experience in employment services, social services, or similar sectors (highly desirable) Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote and challenging environment If you are passionate about contributing to the well-being and development of Indigenous communities and have the necessary skills and experience, we encourage you to apply.
