The Opportunity We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Residential Care Officer to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting individuals living with disability, coordinating community resources, and delivering meaningful, evidence-informed care. You will work collaboratively with clients, families, community organisations, and government agencies to ensure those in our care receive the highest standard of support. Key Responsibilities In this role you will be expected to: Evaluate clients' needs and design, develop, and deliver tailored educational, training, and support programs to promote wellbeing and independence Conduct client interviews to identify and understand the nature and extent of challenges they face, both practically and emotionally Track and document client progress on an ongoing basis, preparing clear and accurate reports for internal and external stakeholders Connect clients with appropriate community agencies and specialist services to address needs beyond the scope of direct care Identify gaps in local community resources across health, welfare, housing, employment, and training, and work to address these needs Build and maintain productive relationships with community groups, welfare agencies, government departments, and private sector partners to advocate for clients and raise awareness of available services Provide direct care and practical support to families, children, and people living with disability across group housing and residential service settings Supervise individuals on probation or parole as required, ensuring appropriate monitoring and reporting Assist young people in navigating social, emotional, and financial difficulties, connecting them to relevant services and building their resilience Prepare funding submissions and resource requests, as well as formal reports for government bodies and other relevant agencies Qualifications & Experience A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Community Services, Psychology, or a related field is desirable. However, a minimum of one year of demonstrated relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of formal qualifications . In some cases, a combination of relevant experience and on-the-job training may be required alongside formal qualifications. Candidates must have a genuine commitment to person-centred care and the ability to work empathetically with people from diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
