The Academic Support Officer is responsible for providing administrative support, within a designated Program cluster, to ensure effective academic planning and administrative support in relation to course management. This role works in collaboration with the Program Support Officers, to drive processes and administrative course support to Deputy Heads of School (Learning and Teaching), Program Directors and Advisors, Course Convenors, and academic staff. As the Academic Support Officer, you will contribute to the overall business improvement initiatives and workplace practice changes in support of innovative and responsive academic administration for the success or our staff, our students, and the greater achievements of the University. You’ll contribute to process improvements and service innovations that keep our operations responsive and compliant. Within this role you will: Coordinate and manage administrative processes for course development, catalogue entries, course profiles and the timely provision of course information. Provide secretariat support and policy advice to committees, ensuring actions and decisions are communicated and implemented. Apply current University policies, practices and standards to deliver accurate advice and compliant outcomes. Contribute to business improvement initiatives and work practice changes. Support program and course review, including data collection and analysis of grade trends, course statistics and enhancement strategies. Contribute to student engagement and retention, across a variety of methods including face to face, emails, calls, etc. Be a member of a supportive, innovative and responsive academic administration team. About you The successful candidate will have an Associate Diploma with at least two years’ experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience and/or education/training. The ideal candidate will display a high level of professional mannerisms to students, colleagues, and academics staff alike. You will also have, but not limited to: The ability to problem solve and communicate solutions to the greater team. A high level of attention-to-detail with sound analytical skills. Proven ability to work independently or within a team environment. Demonstrated high-level organisational and administrative skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective systems, processes and procedures and to prioritise competing demands and deadlines. What we can offer This is a fixed term (until April 2027), full-time position based at Griffith University Gold Coast or Brisbane South (Nathan). As Griffith is a multi-site University you may be required to work across other locations. Griffith University’s sites are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples. Salary Range The full-time equivalent base salary for a HEW Level 5 is in the range $82,415 - $92,456 per annum 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $96,426 - $108,174 per annum.
