About the role: This role is for a locally-based Leading Hand Carpenter located in Karratha. It is not a fly-in, fly-out position . The role is ideal for someone who takes pride in leading and motivating a team to work cohesively and do things properly the first time. As a Leading Hand, you’ll guide a small team, coordinate tasks on site, and ensure workmanship meets Trasan’s high standards. The pace of work is fast with plenty of variety where you’ll need to control multiple projects simultaneously. The main focus of the role is on helping the team produce high-quality work that is achieved by adhering to safety standards and following established standards, guidelines and procedures. It requires accurate documentation and execution of safety procedures and competence with on-site work-tracking applications. It will see you day to day: Leading and supporting a small carpentry crew across residential and commercial projects Performing detailed carpentry on homes, sheds, patios, and garages Overseeing refurbishments and structural modifications with care and accuracy Reading and interpreting plans, drawings, and documentation Planning daily tasks, allocating work, and ensuring workflows at site are operating smoothly and efficiently Applying analytical and technical problem solving skills and maintaining a safe, tidy work area Communicating clearly with supervisors, clients, and your team Ensuring all work meets Trasan’s quality, safety, and compliance expectations. What we can provide: On offer is an above award hourly rate of between $70 - $75 per hour and the option to salary package. You are also eligible to receive Regional Rent Benefits to help you with housing in Karratha. Training – both in house and mandatory training – and career development is included as are up to 10 RDOs per year. In addition, you will also enjoy 2 return flights to Perth per year. What you must have to apply for this role: Certificate III in Carpentry Minimum 5 years carpentry experience (including some leadership or mentoring experience) WA Driver’s Licence Construction White Card Working at Heights Certificate Clean results in any drug & alcohol screening Broad construction experience (formwork, metalwork, concrete, gyprocking, painting, tiling, etc.) A calm, steady leadership style focused on accuracy and consistency The right to work without restriction in Australia You will be highly regarded if you also have: Light Truck Licence Forklift / EWP / HRW licences Roof plumbing experience MSIC / ASIC / Police Clearance Experience working in remote or regional area Strong communication skills — especially listening, clarifying, and giving considerate, constructive feedback Comfortable using tablets, smartphones, and digital logging tools.
