Join a role supporting the application of climate science to real-world coastal management and planning across South Australia. As a Climate Data Analyst – Coastal Hazards, you will work closely with the Senior Climate Data Analyst to deliver high-quality data analysis and technical outputs that inform adaptation, resilience, and evidence-based decision-making. In this role, you will focus on the processing, integration, and analysis of complex climate and coastal datasets, including downscaled climate projections and monitoring data. Using established analytical tools, GIS platforms, and common coding languages such as Python, you will transform raw data into structured datasets, spatial products, and clear analytical outputs suitable for use across government. You will support the development and maintenance of integrated data layers, ensure data quality and consistency, and contribute to the preparation of reports, visualisations, and technical documentation. Your work will underpin coastal hazard assessments, planning processes, and operational decision-making by providing reliable and accessible climate information. Collaboration is an important aspect of the role, though primarily focused on supporting internal teams. You will work with technical specialists, project teams, and stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver fit-for-purpose analytical products under the guidance of senior staff. This position is suited to a technically skilled analyst who enjoys working with spatial data, coding, and data-driven problem solving, and is motivated to contribute to practical climate solutions through robust analysis and high-quality data support. The Department for Environment and Water is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace.
