Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Clinician Make a meaningful impact We are seeking an experienced and passionate Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Clinician to join a specialist multidisciplinary team within a therapeutic court setting. This role provides an opportunity to support participants with complex alcohol and other drug issues, helping them address the underlying factors contributing to offending behaviour and achieve positive, sustainable change through evidence-based interventions. About the role As an AOD Clinician, you will deliver high-quality assessment, counselling and support services to individuals engaged in a specialist drug treatment court program. Working closely with judicial officers, court staff and community service providers, you will play a key role in supporting recovery, reducing harm and improving participant outcomes. Key responsibilities include: Providing evidence-based AOD assessment, counselling and intervention services. Developing and contributing to treatment plans tailored to individual needs. Applying a range of therapeutic approaches, including Motivational Interviewing, Family Inclusive Practice, Dual Diagnosis and Trauma-Informed Care principles. Supporting participants to identify substance use triggers, build practical coping strategies and achieve recovery goals. Collaborating with health, housing, mental health, employment and community services to facilitate integrated support. Preparing reports and providing clinical advice within a court environment. Maintaining accurate records and documentation in line with professional and legislative requirements. Contributing positively to a collaborative multidisciplinary team. About you To be successful in this role, you will bring: Significant experience working in the Alcohol and Other Drugs sector. Strong assessment, counselling and case management skills. Experience supporting clients with complex needs, including substance use and mental health challenges. The ability to build therapeutic relationships while maintaining professional boundaries. Sound clinical judgement and the ability to work autonomously. Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and report-writing skills. Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary environments. Experience with forensic populations, therapeutic jurisprudence or problem-solving court models will be highly regarded. Qualifications and Experience You will possess: A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, Youth Work or a related discipline; or Certificate IV in AOD or an AOD Diploma supported by substantial AOD experience. In addition, you will have: A minimum of four years' experience providing AOD counselling services. Experience working with dual diagnosis presentations. Mental health services experience or equivalent. Experience facilitating group programs and/or SMART Recovery (desirable). Accreditation as a Forensic Clinical Drug Assessor (highly regarded).
