The Coordinator Terrestrial Planning (two positions) sits within the Terrestrial Planning Unit of the Planning and Lands Branch, reporting to the Branch Manager. This is a senior coordination role responsible for leading the delivery of terrestrial management planning across the State. The position leads a team, comprising permanent and fixed term Terrestrial Planners and a permanent Policy Officer. The Coordinator plays a central part in the statutory management planning system, overseeing the full lifecycle of terrestrial management plans from initiation through to finalisation. The position provides strategic and technical leadership to planning team members, fosters strong cross-team collaboration across all management planning teams (terrestrial, marine and South West Native Title), and maintains productive relationships with key internal stakeholders in regions, corporate executive and other areas of the Department. The role also provides strategic support in external consultation and stakeholder engagement, including Aboriginal organisations and Traditional Owner joint management partners, ensuring inclusive, transparent input to inform all stages of the planning lifecycle. This role requires a confident, self-directed leader with deep expertise in leading teams, strong cross-cultural competency, and the capacity to manage multiple concurrent projects in a complex, resource-constrained environment. Some travel to remote and regional locations will be required, including occasional overnight stays and camping.
