Senior Policy Officer Duration: 12 months with potential 6-month extension Rate: $63 – $71 per hour Security Clearance: Baseline (required) Location: Canberra Our federal Government client is seeking an experienced Senior Policy Officer to support a significant policy reform and legislative modernisation project. Working within a dedicated policy team, you will contribute to the development and delivery of regulatory reform initiatives, supporting policy development that informs future legislative changes. This is an excellent opportunity for a policy professional with strong analytical, stakeholder engagement and drafting skills to work on a high-profile reform program. Key Responsibilities Support policy development and regulatory reform activities. Conduct policy research and analysis to inform decision-making. Develop policy papers, briefing materials and recommendations for senior executives and ministers. Assist with the preparation of drafting instructions to support legislative amendments. Coordinate and contribute to extensive stakeholder engagement activities. Liaise with internal teams as well as external stakeholders, including industry representatives and state and territory governments. Support project delivery within a fast-paced policy environment. About You To be successful, you will bring: Experience in policy development , particularly in a regulatory environment. Experience supporting legislative reform and/or legislation development Strong stakeholder engagement and consultation skills. Excellent written communication skills, including preparation of briefs, policy papers and other official documentation. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team while also working independently. Sound problem-solving skills, initiative and a proactive approach.
