The role is responsible for managing a portfolio of clients, preparing and reviewing financial and taxation compliance work, providing business advisory services, and mentoring junior team members. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality outcomes while building strong client relationships. Senior Accountants in public practice commonly manage client portfolios, review compliance work, provide tax advice, and support junior staff development. Key Responsibilities Manage a portfolio of business and individual clients. Prepare and review financial statements, income tax returns, BAS and IAS. Prepare and review company, trust, partnership and SMSF compliance work. Provide tax planning and business advisory services. Assist clients with budgeting, cash flow forecasting and financial analysis. Liaise directly with clients, the ATO, ASIC and other stakeholders. Identify opportunities to improve client business performance and tax outcomes. Review work prepared by junior accountants and provide coaching and mentoring. Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, taxation legislation and regulatory requirements. Assist with workflow management and meeting client deadlines. Support managers and partners on complex client matters and special projects. Senior accountants are typically responsible for financial reporting, compliance, client advisory work, staff supervision, and ensuring deadlines are met. Skills & Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline. CA or CPA qualified (or nearing completion). 4–7 years' experience in public practice accounting. Strong knowledge of Australian taxation and accounting standards. Experience with Xero, Xero Tax, FYI, BGL, CAS 360 and Microsoft Excel. Excellent communication and client relationship skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines. Proven ability to review work and mentor junior team members.
