The role - Senior Google Cloud Engineer Duration - 12 Month renewable contract Location - Hybrid / CBD We are looking for a Senior Google Cloud Platform Engineer to join the engineering team of this enterprise and take ownership of designing, building and operating cloud infrastructure at scale. The role: Define and enforce cloud architecture standards, patterns, and guardrails across engineering teams. Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform to automate provisioning and configuration. Build and optimise CI/CD pipelines to accelerate delivery and maintain platform reliability. Lead the implementation of GCP services including GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, and VPC networking. Embed security best practices across the platform — including IAM, secrets management, and compliance controls. Monitor platform health and performance using Cloud Monitoring, Logging, and observability tooling. Establish and maintain disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity processes. Partner with security and compliance teams to meet regulatory and data governance requirements. Requirements: 10 years in cloud/platform engineering with 5 years hands-on GCP experience Strong Terraform and IaC expertise Deep knowledge of GKE, Cloud Run, and containerisation (Docker) Experience designing VPC networks, IAM, and security controls on GCP Proficiency in CI/CD tooling (Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, or similar) Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or Go Strong understanding of SRE principles — SLOs, alerting, incident response Google Cloud Professional certification (Cloud Architect or DevOps Engineer) Familiarity with service mesh (Istio, Anthos) Platform engineering with Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) Experience in regulated industries (finance, healthcare)
