Role Overview This opportunity is suited to a junior to mid-level Database Administrator looking to deepen their experience across both cloud and on-premise environments. You will work closely with senior DBAs, developers, and infrastructure teams to support, maintain, and optimise databases supporting business-critical applications. This is a 6-month contract opportunity with strong potential for extension or transition into a permanent role , offering hands-on exposure to modern database technologies and best practices. Key Responsibilities: Support administration, maintenance, and optimisation of databases across development, test, and production environments Assist with database design, object creation (tables, indexes), and performance tuning activities Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure data integrity and availability Contribute to backup, recovery, and data migration processes across cloud and on-prem platforms Collaborate with developers and senior DBAs to deliver robust, scalable database solutions Maintain documentation, standards, and support continuous improvement initiatives Skills & Experience Proven experience in database administration or related technical roles Exposure to database platforms such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or similar Basic understanding of cloud database environments (AWS, Azure, or similar) Experience with database monitoring, performance tuning, and optimisation fundamentals Familiarity with backup and recovery processes Understanding of data modelling concepts and database design principles Exposure to Linux/Unix scripting or automation Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment What’s on Offer People enjoy working in this team because of the supportive learning environment, access to modern technologies, and clear career pathways .
