About the Role An exciting opportunity exists for an accomplished government professional to lead a high-performing function responsible for parliamentary services, ministerial coordination and executive communications. Operating within a fast-paced and politically sensitive environment, this position will play a key role in ensuring accurate, timely and strategic information is provided to senior decision-makers. The successful candidate will oversee the management of complex correspondence, briefing materials, submissions and stakeholder requests while providing trusted advice on emerging issues, governance obligations and government processes. Role: Manager, Parliament & Government Services Pay Rate: $1,000–$1,250 per day super Location : Sydney CBD | Hybrid Working Arrangement Start Date : ASAP Duration: Contract until June 2027 Key Responsibilities • Lead the delivery of parliamentary, ministerial and executive correspondence services across the organisation. • Coordinate the preparation, review and quality assurance of briefing notes, ministerial responses, cabinet documentation, reports and executive submissions. • Provide expert advice on government processes, parliamentary matters and politically sensitive issues. • Manage competing priorities and critical deadlines while ensuring high standards of accuracy and compliance. • Build productive relationships with ministerial offices, senior executives, government agencies and key external stakeholders. • Monitor emerging risks, public issues and stakeholder concerns, providing recommendations and escalation pathways where required. • Oversee governance frameworks, reporting processes and compliance requirements relating to parliamentary and ministerial functions. • Lead responses to requests from ministers, parliamentary committees, central agencies and executive offices. • Develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality assurance and service delivery outcomes. • Prepare strategic communications, issue briefs and stakeholder engagement materials to support executive decision-making. • Manage and mentor team members, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement. • Support organisational planning activities, workforce capability initiatives and operational performance reporting. • Contribute to policy implementation, organisational change programs and cross-functional projects as required. • Maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgement when handling sensitive information. About You • Demonstrated experience leading ministerial, parliamentary, government relations, executive services or corporate governance functions within government or highly regulated environments. • Strong knowledge of parliamentary procedures, ministerial operations, public sector governance frameworks and machinery of government principles. • Proven experience preparing high-quality ministerial briefs, executive correspondence, cabinet-related materials and complex written submissions. • Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to translate complex information into clear, concise and actionable advice. • Experience managing politically sensitive issues and providing strategic advice to senior executives and key stakeholders. • Advanced stakeholder engagement, negotiation and relationship management capabilities. • Strong leadership experience with a track record of developing high-performing teams and delivering results through others. • Demonstrated ability to prioritise competing demands and perform effectively under pressure. • Sound understanding of risk management, compliance obligations and information governance requirements. • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Public Policy, Government, Law, Communications, Business Administration, Political Science or a related discipline. • Advanced proficiency across Microsoft Office applications and document management or correspondence tracking systems. • Experience working within NSW Government, Commonwealth Government or comparable public sector environments will be highly regarded. • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities. • Full Australian working rights are required.
