This role is ideal for a financial crime specialist who brings deep experience in end‑to‑end Suspicious Matter Reporting (SMRs) and a strong understanding of regulatory obligations, and is keen to apply that expertise in a new sector. About the role As a Suspicious Matter Reporting Analyst , you’ll play a critical role in protecting members, clients and the organisation from financial crime. You’ll be responsible for end‑to‑end SMR investigations and reporting, operating in a fast‑paced, time‑critical environment while maintaining the highest quality and regulatory standards. You’ll act as a subject matter expert across fraud, AML/CTF, KYC and sanctions, working closely with internal stakeholders, clients, regulators and law enforcement to identify, investigate and report suspicious activity. What you’ll be doing day‑to‑day Conduct end‑to‑end Suspicious Matter investigations, from initial detection through to analysis, documentation and submission of high‑quality SMRs Prepare clear, concise and regulator‑ready Suspicious Matter Reports for internal stakeholders, clients and external regulators Apply strong knowledge of AML/CTF, KYC, sanctions and broader financial crime obligations to assess and mitigate risk Monitor internal and external fraud trends, contributing to fraud controls, threat‑hunting techniques and continuous improvement initiatives Manage SMR queues and inboxes to ensure delivery within contracted SLAs and regulatory timeframes Partner with multiple internal teams to balance member experience, fraud mitigation and operational efficiency Provide SME support across fraud and financial crime matters, including guidance, training and uplift activity Engage with regulators and law enforcement in line with organisational policies and statutory requirements What you’ll bring Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Financial Crime, AML/CTF, Fraud or Risk environment Demonstrated end‑to‑end SMR experience, including investigations and high‑quality written reporting Strong knowledge of regulators and regulatory frameworks, including AML/CTF, KYC, sanctions and related financial crime obligations Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for different audiences Proven ability to engage confidently with senior internal stakeholders, clients and external parties Strong analytical, problem‑solving and judgement skills in complex, time‑critical environments Ability to operate as a leader and influencer without direct people management responsibility Tertiary qualification in fraud, risk or a related discipline (valued but not essential) Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Superannuation experience not required — financial crime expertise is key Some of our employment benefits Flexible working — hybrid model (office and home) Purchased Leave, Parental Leave, Volunteer Leave, Gender Transition Leave, Well‑being Leave Employee Recognition Program Talent Referral Program Salary Sacrificing via Superannuation Employee Assistance Program Learning & Development, including educational assistance Employee discounts (including Bupa and Microsoft) Novated Car Leasing Culture at MUFG Pension & Market Services We are an inclusive employer whose people work collaboratively.
