Skillforce Recruitment are currently seeking Floor Installers and Sanders These Positions have the opportunity for Full Time Employment or Temp to Perm Full Time Packages Rates Senior Installers & Sanders $90K Super Company Car Junior Installers & Sanders $ 75K Super Company Car Core Responsibilities - Floor Installers Site Preparation: Remove existing flooring, sweep dust and debris, and level subfloors (sanding or applying patching compounds) to create a flat, stable base. Measurement & Layout: Read blueprints, measure rooms, calculate material requirements, and pop chalk lines to find the center/starting point. Material Installation: Cut and shape carpet, hardwood, vinyl, or tile to fit spaces, and secure them using adhesives, nails, staples, or mortar. Finishing: Apply trim, edge mouldings, grout (for tile), or sealants/stains (for wood) and clean the finished product. Client Service & Safety: Adhere to Work Health and Safety (WHS) protocols, wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and explain flooring care requirements to clients. Essential Skills & Requirements - Floor Installers Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, kneel, and bend for extended periods, as well as lift and carry heavy flooring boxes. Math & Tool Proficiency: Strong basic math skills to calculate square footage, read tape measures, and operate both hand and power tools (saws, nail guns, trowels). Experience: Typically requires a proven background in flooring (often 1–3 years for unsupervised or commercial roles), though some entry-level positions provide on-the-job training. Key Responsibilities- Floor Sanders Surface Preparation: Removing protruding nails, replacing damaged planks, and refastening loose boards prior to sanding. Machine Operation: Operating heavy-duty equipment like drum sanders, orbital sanders, and edgers to safely level and smooth wood surfaces. Detailing: Sanding corners, edges, and tight spaces by hand or with specialised detail sanders. Finishing & Coating: Applying fillers, stains, polishes, and sealants (e.g., polyurethane) using brushes, rollers, or buffers. Safety & Maintenance: Following rigorous safety protocols (mask, eye and ear protection), managing power cords, and keeping worksites clean. Essential Skills & Qualifications - Floor Sanders Physical Stamina: Ability to endure demanding physical labor, including heavy lifting, kneeling, bending, and reaching for extended periods. Equipment Mastery: Strong mechanical aptitude to control, calibrate, and maintain industrial sanding machines without damaging the flooring. Woodworking Knowledge: Understanding of different timber species, grain patterns, and how they react to various abrasives, stains, and finishes.
