Description Diraq is building a quantum computer in Sydney (and not as a science project). As we move from foundational breakthroughs into commercial visibility, we need a Senior Communications Manager who is brilliant at doing : making stories real, shipping high-quality content, and keeping momentum when things are moving fast. This is a role for a Swiss Army Knife communicator (in the best sense): equal parts writer, producer, coordinator, translator of complexity, and calm operator. One moment you’ll be polishing an op-ed; the next you’ll be storyboarding an animation; the next you’ll be shaping a response for a media enquiry; the next you’ll be helping an exec land a message that cuts through. You’ll sit at the centre of our communications engine and help build global awareness for one of Australia’s most significant deep-tech ventures with reach across the US, UK and Europe. If you’re the kind of comms person who… gets a buzz from making complex things make sense (without dumbing them down), can go from rough notes → sharp narrative → media-ready finish in the same day, feels slightly allergic to ego and politics, and deeply energised by great teams , and wants to tell a story that actually matters — not just “move metrics”… …this role might feel like it was written for you. Requirements You likely have: 6–8 years’ experience in communications (agency or fast-moving tech environments are a strong plus). Outstanding writing and editing — you can do warm, punchy, formal, or media-ready. The ability to learn technical concepts quickly and ask smart questions without ego. Strong judgement: you know what matters, what’s noise, and how to protect credibility. Real execution power: organised, proactive, able to run multiple workstreams without dropping the ball. Comfort working with creatives and agencies — you can give direction that makes the work better. And you are: Low ego / high team connection. You’re generous with credit and allergic to drama. Scrappy in the best way. You can create quality without needing a giant budget. Curious by default. You love learning and you’re energised by hard problems. Here for the greater good. You want your work to be part of something meaningful and future-shaping. Bonus points (not required): Deep tech / science / emerging tech experience Comfort with global media landscapes (US/Europe) You actively experiment with modern tools (including AI) for writing, production, monitoring and measurement and you use them with good judgement. If you don’t tick every box but you read this and thought “this feels like me” — apply anyway.
