We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Manager – Racing and Events to join our Finance team on a 13-month Fixed Term Contract basis at Caulfield Racecourse. As Finance Manager, you'll help drive the financial success of the Club's racing and events. From major race meetings and events to strategic business initiatives, you'll provide the financial insights that shape decisions, improve performance and support sustainable growth. Working closely with leaders across the business, you'll ensure strong financial controls, deliver meaningful analysis and reporting, and play a key role in helping the Club continue to create memorable experiences for members, guests and racing enthusiasts. In The Saddle Manage the preparation of monthly management accounts to responsible departments Challenge results, investigate variances and identify opportunities to improve performance Co-ordinate the delivery of the monthly consolidated committee finance pack Management of actionable reporting to ensure profitability in commercial business units keeping key stakeholders accountable for costs (not fixed) and missed revenue targets Ensure ownership of Racing, Events and Administration annual budget process Lead the ongoing management and performance review of budgets to ensure alignment with financial targets and business objectives Construct and maintain strong set of financial procedures for all responsible tasks and responsibilities Deliver timely resolutions to accounting queries that impact the wider club ensuring accurate financial reporting in the general ledger Assist the General Manager – Finance with audit-related queries, and take ownership of all audit queries relating to racing and events Manage and support direct reports by providing open channels of communication and ongoing, honest feedback supporting professional development Drive network building among finance and departments enabling a broader understanding of organisational strengths, weaknesses, threats and potential growth. Your Track Record Post graduate and professional membership in either Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (CA) or CPA Australia (CPA) Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance Minimum eight years’ experience in accounting Minimum three years in a similar role to this position description Significant experience in Microsoft Office Suite. Including Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint Proven experience in management reporting to senior management Understanding of contemporary accounting issues Thorough understanding of Excel and technical functions of the program Extensive knowledge of business unit contribution and profitability Knowledge of inventory management software and general principles supporting such software The Perks Ongoing learning and development opportunities.
