About the Role BRG is seeking an experienced Commercial Officer to support a Defence program environment within the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG). This role sits within a busy program environment and focuses on end-to-end commercial and procurement support. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing program budgets, leading procurement activities and ensuring strong commercial governance and compliance across all program activities. This role will suit an individual with experience in procurement methodologies, contracting options, tender development and financial management within a Defence or Commonwealth environment. Skill: Procurement Methodologies & Contracting Options & Tender Development – Level 3 Remote Work: No Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for: Budget & Financial Management Update and review the DCE program budget, including by completing accruals and financial forecasting activities. Conduct day-to-day financial management, including management of Purchase Orders and submission of invoices. Commercial Framework & Documentation Develop, review and complete high-level commercial framework documentation, such as the DCE Financial Management Plan. Implement strategies that help maintain commercial compliance of overall program activities. Document and embed commercial Lessons Learnt. Procurement Management Plan, schedule, implement and manage DCE-related procurements such as Scope Notices, CCPs and work packages. Contract Management Plan and complete commercial assurance activities, such as contract audits and cost reviews. Manage, escalate where appropriate and oversee the progress of key DCE contracts, including deliverable management, finance and performance requirements. Stakeholder Engagement Establish and maintain regular engagement activities with commercial stakeholders to ensure they are aligned to achieving DCE objectives. Attend, provide input and present at key team meetings and workshops. Provide a reasonable level of support to broader DCE and DDG commercial activities. Essential Experience & Skills The successful candidate should demonstrate: Experience in procurement methodologies, contracting options and tender development (L3 equivalent). Strong financial management skills, including accruals, forecasting and Purchase Order management. Experience managing Defence or Government contracts and commercial frameworks. Ability to conduct commercial assurance activities such as contract audits and cost reviews. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships. Desirable Experience Highly regarded experience includes: Experience working within Commonwealth or CASG environments. Familiarity with Defence procurement frameworks and policies. Experience supporting complex Defence capability programs. Demonstrated ability to present and provide input at senior stakeholder forums.
