We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Diesel Motor Mechanic to join our team on a full-time basis. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties: Discuss problems with vehicle operators to discover faults. Provide accurate estimates regarding repair costs, timelines, and maintenance requirements. Perform routine servicing, preventative maintenance, lubrication, fluid replacement and mechanical inspections on diesel vehicles, trucks and trailers. Dismantle engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, or other components and inspect parts. Test and repair electrical systems such as lighting, instrumentation, ignition, and electronic fuel injection systems. Diagnose, service, and repair diesel vehicles, trucks, and trailers in compliance with manufacturer guidelines and industry regulations. Inspect vehicle engines and mechanical/electrical components such as transmissions, suspensions, steering, and brakes to diagnose issues accurately. Keep logs on work performed and ensure vehicles are maintained in roadworthy condition. Ensure all repair and maintenance work complies with manufacturer specifications, workplace safety requirements and roadworthiness standards. Test and re-adjust repaired systems using testing equipment and computer diagnostics before handover to clients. Re-line and adjust brakes and perform wheel alignments. Deal with customers on a day-to-day basis in a professional manner. Explain automotive issues and repairs completed on customer vehicles. Repair or replace broken, worn, or defective components such as brake pads, wheel bearings, and other mechanical parts. Schedule future maintenance services and advise clients on proper vehicle care and usage. Perform all duties in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner. Maintain workshop equipment and tools in good working condition. Conduct final inspections and road tests to verify the effectiveness of repairs and maintenance work. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Minimum Certificate III or IV qualification in Diesel Motor Mechanics or relevant trade qualification. At least 2 years of relevant work experience in a similar role. Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills. Friendly, positive, and approachable attitude. Energetic, motivated, and reliable individual. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
