Job Description: As a Fruit Farm Worker, you will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of banana production, from early-stage crop care to harvesting and dispatch. You will work closely with our experienced farm team to ensure the highest quality of bananas are grown and delivered to our customers. This position is focused on supporting the full cycle of Banana production on the farm, from early-stage crop care through to harvesting and dispatch. The role is primarily based in the packing shed but also includes field-based tasks across all stages of banana crop production. The role requires consistent physical effort, attention to produce quality, and adherence to farm procedures. Tasks Receive harvested banana bunches from field teams for processing and packing. De-hand banana bunches and trim fruit according to market specifications. Wash, treat and sanitise bananas in accordance with food safety requirements. Grade bananas based on size, quality and weight standards. Pack bananas into cartons and prepare orders for dispatch and transport. Operate packing shed equipment and assist with palletising cartons. Patrol, inspect and report on crop and plant conditions in the field as directed. Assist with planting, cultivating and fertilising of banana crops using hand tools and farm machinery. Operate irrigation systems and monitor water supply to crops. Apply pesticides, herbicides and fungicides to crops to control disease, weed growth and pests in accordance with biosecurity requirements. Assist with harvesting activities during peak production periods. Perform general crop maintenance including deleafing, pruning, desuckering and plant upkeep. Responsibilities Maintain quality control standards by identifying damaged, bruised or defective produce. Follow hygiene, biosecurity, food safety, and workplace health and safety procedures. Support smooth coordination between field operations and packing shed activities. Maintain accurate production, packing and traceability records. Operate and maintain farm machinery and packing shed equipment in an efficient manner. Adhere to all relevant food safety standards and biosecurity protocols. Assist in maintaining efficient workflow and operational productivity across all farm activities. Report any crop disease, pest activity or safety hazards to the supervisor promptly. Requirements Minimum of 1 year experience in fruit farming or agricultural work. Certificate I in Horticulture or Agriculture is preferred. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Physically fit and capable of performing manual labour and lifting heavy objects. Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and within a team environment. Good communication, organisational, and time management skills. Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and peak farming periods when required. Knowledge of farm machinery, equipment, and general agricultural practices is advantageous. Contract Details: This is a full-time position with a salary ranging from $68,000 to $80,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition, we offer superannuation and other benefits.
