The Story Located in Tatyoon, a premier agricultural region of Western Victoria, this 1,350-hectare family-owned enterprise operates a highly specialised, modern mixed-farming operation. Now managed by the third generation, the business has evolved into a purely seedstock and commercial Angus breeding program, complemented by a robust broadacre cropping rotation. The core focus is on achieving high-performance commercial outcomes to maximise herd profitability while maintaining a strong commitment to land management and animal welfare. As the operation positions itself for the future, this role has been newly created to allow the owners to transition to working more on the business rather than in the business, unlocking new opportunities for growth and constant improvement. Supported by an engaged, dynamic, and welcoming local community, you will play an integral, trusted role in this transition and the long-term success of the property. The Operation Our clients are a precision-driven, high-performance farming business that raises 1,000 Angus cattle across both elite stud and commercial herds, which include 450 calving cows. The livestock operation is highly advanced, utilising synchronised artificial insemination (AI) and embryo transfer (ET) programs to accelerate genetic improvement. Complementing the cattle program is an 850-hectare intensive broadacre cropping operation that produces high-yielding cereal, oilseed, and legume crops. This sophisticated enterprise is supported by top-tier infrastructure, including brand-new Proway livestock handling facilities and a modern fleet of machinery featuring John Deere and Claas equipment. The Role Reporting directly to the owners, you will step into a vital all-rounder position where no two days look exactly the same. This role is designed for someone who genuinely loves the seasonal variation of a high-performance mixed-farming system and wants to be deeply involved in the property's overall success. On the livestock side, you will handle daily cattle husbandry, tracking the animals through full production cycles from calving supervision to weaning. A major highlight of the annual calendar is the On-Property Bull Sale each September, and you will play a hands-on role in getting the stud stock prepared, presented, and managed for this landmark event. The cattle work is supported by top-tier, brand-new Proway handling facilities that make drafting and stock work safe and efficient. When your focus shifts to the 850-hectare cropping program, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining a high-spec modern machinery fleet featuring John Deere and Claas equipment across the cereal, oilseed, and legume crop cycles. Because this is a precision-driven enterprise, you will also use digital technologies such as the John Deere Ops Centre and animal performance programs to record and track critical production data. Between cattle and cropping rotations, you will help keep the entire property neat and tidy by maintaining general farm maintenance, paddock infrastructure, and water systems. The Ideal Candidate We are looking for an honest, punctual, and enthusiastic candidate who brings a strong work ethic and a desire to improve business outcomes. You must be exceptionally neat, tidy, and detail-oriented. Essential requirements include: Proven, hands-on experience in livestock handling and general animal husbandry. Competency in modern agricultural machinery operation and basic mechanical maintenance. Solid communication skills, organisational ability, and familiarity with digital farm records. An HC truck licence (or a willingness to obtain one) will be a distinct advantage. The Offer This role offers the chance to become a valued member of a highly respected family brand at an exciting phase of its evolution. Located in the beautiful, village-like Tatyoon district, you will step into a highly social community boasting strong local football, netball, tennis, and cricket clubs. A competitive salary package is coupled with excellent on-farm accommodation: a comfortable 3-bedroom residence is available immediately, with a second 3-bedroom house currently under renovation over the next 6 months. A work Ute is also provided for on-farm use. Interested? To apply for this role, please submit your current resume along with the contact details of at least three references that we can reach. A cover letter indicating why you are suited to this role will also be highly regarded. For a confidential conversation or more information, please call John Boote on 0428 245 261.
