Payroll Support Officer | Temporary Assignment | Mile End Davies Stewart is partnering with a prominent organisation at their National Support Office in Mile End, Adelaide, to source an experienced Payroll Support Officer for a temporary assignment. This is a critical employment opportunity for a high-calibre candidate who can hit the ground running to support the payroll function for an initial 6–8 week period, with the potential for extension up to 12 weeks. The Opportunity As the Payroll Support Officer, you will be the "engine room" of the payroll team, ensuring that employee pay, leave entitlements, and records are processed with absolute precision. This role requires a professional who is comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment, managing daily inbox enquiries, and maintaining rigorous compliance with Australian legislation and industrial instruments. What You'll Be Doing Payroll Processing: Assist in the end-to-end preparation of weekly, fortnightly, or monthly payrolls, including timesheet verification and data entry. Inbox Management: Proactively manage the payroll inbox, prioritising enquiries based on urgency and processing deadlines while maintaining high service standards. Records Maintenance: Manage the employee lifecycle within the payroll system, including new setups, terminations, and updates to bank, tax, and superannuation details. Compliance & Reporting: Ensure adherence to Australian taxation requirements, superannuation obligations, and relevant Awards. Assist with STP reporting and internal payroll audits. Employee Support: Act as the first point of contact for employee enquiries, providing clear and professional explanations regarding payslips, deductions, and leave balances. Leave Administration: Maintain and monitor accurate records for annual, personal, and long service leave accruals. What You'll Bring Experience: Demonstrated 5 year’s experience in a dedicated payroll role Experience with large, multi-site workforces and retail payroll environments will be highly regarded. Technical Proficiency: A strong understanding of payroll systems, data entry, and Microsoft Office applications. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to resolve complex enquiries with tact and discretion. Analytical Mindset: A high level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly regarding payroll reconciliations and award interpretation. Reliability: A self-managed professional who can work independently and integrate quickly into a team environment.
