Our client is now seeking a skilled Cook to join their kitchen team. The role is full-time and ongoing, requiring at least 38 hours per week across shifts that may vary from time to time. Responsibilities of our Cook will include: ·Thoroughly check all ingredients at the commencement of each shift to ensure freshness and quality, discarding any foodstuffs that do not meet the required standard and recording details for reordering where appropriate. ·Complete daily preparation activities, including slicing and dicing raw ingredients and preparing side dishes such as potatoes and vegetables, to ensure sufficient quantities for the serving period ahead. ·Prepare meals for all courses and cook the full range of menu items in accordance with established recipes, procedures, and methods, including appropriate seasoning before, during, and after cooking. ·Determine correct cooking times and regulate the temperature of ovens, grills, and other equipment so that all dishes are cooked correctly within the required time, neither over nor underdone. ·Prepare and serve meals to meet individual dietary requirements, incorporating appropriate ingredient substitutions where applicable. ·Serve menu items at the standard serving size, ensuring attractive and consistent presentation through the addition of garnishes and condiments such as sauces. ·Follow all health, safety, and food-handling regulations, keeping work areas clean and tidy using appropriate sanitisers and cleaning equipment, and wearing suitable clothing and footwear to prevent contamination. ·Store all food appropriately and in accordance with food safety standards, including airtight storage and correctly maintained refrigeration temperatures. ·Use appropriate techniques and follow agreed procedures for the safe handling of knives, utensils, and cooking equipment. ·Contribute specialist knowledge, recipes, and enthusiasm to help improve and extend the menu, assist with menu planning, and help train other kitchen staff and apprentices as required. To be successfully considered for this role, you: ·Possess an AQF Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent, with at least two years of on-the-job training; or AQF Certificate IV. At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for formal qualifications. ·Have substantial commercial cookery experience of no less than 3 year post-qualification. ·Possess a thorough understanding of food safety and food-handling regulations. ·Are available to work across the week, including shifts that may vary from time to time. ·Have a genuine knowledge and love of cooking and food, with strong attention to detail and good communication skills. ·Are energetic, hardworking, personable, and a strong team player who helps create harmony in the kitchen at all times. ·Bring creativity, enthusiasm, and the ability to learn and adapt quickly to new situations. ·You must have unrestricted Australian working rights to be considered.
