Project Manager – High Voltage Transmission Infrastructure Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead feasibility studies, planning, execution, and delivery of high-voltage (HV) transmission infrastructure projects, including substations, transmission lines, and associated systems. The role requires strong technical understanding, stakeholder management, strong regulatory knowledge and project controls expertise to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with regulatory and environmental standards. Key Responsibilities Project Management & Delivery Lead end-to-end execution of HV transmission projects (feasibility, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover) Develop and manage detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets Ensure adherence to project scope, timelines, and financial targets Monitor progress and performance using KPIs and project controls tools Oversee engineering design and ensure compliance with relevant standards (local grid codes) Review and approve technical documentation, drawings, and specifications Manage interfaces between substations, transmission lines, and grid operators Stakeholder & Contractor Management Act as the primary point of contractors, and regulatory bodies Manage EPC contractors, consultants, and suppliers Lead project meetings, reporting, and communication with internal and external stakeholders Negotiate contracts, variations, and claims Risk & Compliance Management Identify and manage project risks and opportunities Ensure compliance with environmental, regulatory, and permitting requirements Implement mitigation strategies and contingency plans Qualifications & Experience Education Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred) Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) is an advantage Experience 7–15 years of experience in power transmission or utility infrastructure projects Proven experience managing HV transmission or substation projects Experience with Utilities or EPC project environments preferred Key Competencies Project leadership and execution excellence Risk management and mitigation Contract and commercial acumen Safety-first mindset Strategic planning and organization If you feel like the is the right role for you, and you can add real value to critical infrastructure click apply or contact me on jon.orange@opustr.com.au
