We are seeking an ambitious Managing Editor to lead our coverage of Australia and New Zealand. This is one of the most important leadership roles in our Asia-Pacific newsroom. The successful candidate will foster a scoop-driven culture, drive imaginative enterprise and, ultimately, lead a news operation that is part of the daily conversation in ANZ's corridors of power. We are looking for an editor with strong news judgment and the ability to lead teams through major stories and competitive news cycles. As Bloomberg continues to expand its digital presence across APAC, the Managing Editor will help grow our audience and experiment with new storytelling formats across all our platforms. The ideal candidate will be energetic, collaborative and eager to develop a diverse array of talent while working closely with teams across the region and globally. We'll trust you to: Drive editorial excellence and ensure timely, high-quality news output across Australia and New Zealand Lead daily news operations and coordinate coverage between breaking news, enterprise, and corporate teams Build and expand our corporate coverage by identifying key players and trends that matter to our readers Inspire reporters and editors to pursue original, agenda-setting stories with global impact Mentor and coach journalists to sharpen their reporting, writing, and critical thinking skills Make sound editorial judgments quickly - especially under pressure or amid uncertainty Serve as the editorial point person for Australia and New Zealand, collaborating closely with regional and global stakeholders You'll need to have: At least 7 years of recent experience in financial journalism At least 3 years of management experience in a newsroom A proven track record of collaborating across diverse teams and regions Excellent editing skills from refining urgent breaking news to shaping long-form features Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organization Strong organizational and planning skills with an ability to manage competing priorities Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of building strong relationships and influencing outcomes The ability to remain composed and effective in high-pressure situations We'd also like to see: Previous experience of working in ANZ would be preferred but not essential Experience with video or podcasts would be a plus Life at Bloomberg is many things, but it's never dull.
