Role Purpose The Welder is responsible for carrying out welding, fabrication, repair and assembly tasks to produce high-quality steel components and structures in accordance with job specifications, drawings, safety requirements and company quality standards. This role supports the business by ensuring fabricated products are completed accurately, efficiently and safely, contributing to project delivery, customer satisfaction and the company’s ongoing reputation for dependable steel fabrication services. Key Responsibilities Read and interpret technical drawings, work orders, measurements and fabrication specifications. Perform welding duties using appropriate processes such as MIG, TIG, arc or oxy welding as required. Cut, shape, bend, drill and prepare metal components for fabrication and assembly. Assemble, align and weld steel parts to required dimensions and tolerances. Inspect completed welds and fabricated items to ensure quality, strength and finish standards are met. Operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment and workshop machinery safely and correctly. Conduct grinding, finishing and cleaning of welded components prior to delivery or installation. Identify material defects, equipment faults or fabrication issues and report them promptly. Follow workplace health and safety procedures, including correct use of PPE and safe handling of materials. Maintain a clean, organised and hazard-free workshop environment. Assist with measuring, marking out and preparing materials for production jobs. Work collaboratively with supervisors, fabricators and other trades to meet project timelines. Maintain basic job records, material usage notes and quality checks where required. Support continuous improvement by suggesting practical ways to improve workflow, safety or product quality. Comply with company policies, Australian workplace standards, and relevant industry practices. What We Are Looking For (Requirements) Minimum one (1) year of relevant welding or metal fabrication work experience. Relevant qualification in welding, engineering fabrication, metal fabrication or a related trade field, such as a Certificate III or higher. Practical experience using common welding techniques and fabrication tools in a workshop environment. Ability to read and follow technical drawings, measurements and job specifications accurately. Strong attention to detail, reliability and commitment to quality workmanship. Sound understanding of workplace health and safety requirements in a fabrication or manufacturing setting.
