A longstanding manufacturer of Magnesium Oxide and Magnesium Carbonate looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team. The position reports to the GM / MD and is assisted by a team plant operators and maintenance tradespersons. The position is in the picturesque rural town of Young in NSW. Young is located 365 km from Sydney and 160 km from Canberra. Qualifications, experience and requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 2 - 5 years’ experience in a 24 x 7 chemical manufacturing environment using rotary and vertical shaft kilns. Demonstrated experience in working successfully in a team environment. Excellent organisation skills with the ability to work under pressure, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines. Strong written and oral communication skills with proficiency in MS Word and Excel. Proficiency in CAD and ERP software is preferred. Annual salary is negotiable depending on the candidate’s skills and experience Responsibilities will include : Design and construct machines for calcination of minerals, materials conveying and handling, crushing, sieving, grinding and packaging Supervise the dismantling, refurbishment, assembly, erection and commissioning of equipment Inspect plant to ensure optimum performance is maintained including completion of checklists for operations, maintenance and housekeeping crew Supervision of maintenance and implement strategies to reduce breakdowns, including preventative maintenance and maintaining inventory of critical spares Analyse energy and labour costs, utilisation of maintenance and operations crew, factory layout, data and records to optimize staffing and equipment Attend sites after normal working hours where equipment failure or breakdowns impact immediate operations Maintain proper records for compliance and management information systems Supervise and coordinate maintenance personnel and contractors to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to required standards. Liaise with internal departments and external service providers to support maintenance, procurement, and delivery of material, plant and equipment for continuous improvement activities.
