Initial contract until mid-August 2026 with a possible extension Attractive pay rate of $900 super per day Working 7.5 hours per day and 37.5 hours per week Work Location: Hybrid (WFH Parramatta) Purpose of the role: As NSW manages a rapidly evolving electricity sector including large-scale renewable integration, storage, and network investment under the Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap the ability to build, run, and interpret PLEXOS dispatch and capacity expansion models is directly aligned with the division's core analytical needs. Practical experience with PLEXOS is a highly sought capability for this role. Key Accountabilities: Develop options and recommendations for how best to meet the data and analysis needs of the division as they emerge. Design and deliver dashboards and charts to allow divisional stakeholders to access the data they need, when they need it. Manage existing datasets and support development of agreements to access and manage additional datasets. Provide quantitative analysis of policy, program and operational issues to ensure consistency of approach to complex and systemic issues and provide recommendations for improvement Design and deliver reporting and analysis capability development projects, including managing scope, any procurement, timely achievement of milestones, budget and stakeholder engagement. Provide timely and quality briefings and analysis as required to respond to Ministerial, Cabinet or Departmental requests. Develop and maintain systems, policies and processes to enhance team operations. Applying advanced modelling tools, requires strong technical knowledge (eg PLEXOS) Building complex data systems and other operational challenges, navigating breadth of energy market inputs. Delivering high-quality modelling under time pressure. Plexos experience required for this role: Experience building and running PLEXOS models for NEM-connected regions, including generator bidding, transmission constraints and hydro scheduling. Ability to conduct scenario modelling for renewables, storage and demand-side response. Skilled in analysing price forecasts, dispatch profiles and reserve margin projections, and translating findings into policy and investment insights. Experience integrating PLEXOS with Python, R and Excel to automate workflows and extend analytical capability. Strong understanding of NEM market rules, AEMO data inputs and regulatory impacts on modelling assumptions. Essential requirements: Qualifications or experience in mathematics, statistics, engineering, computer science, information management, finance, economics, or a related field. Have a good understanding of energy markets, data analysis, management and visualisation. Experience conducting technical and economic analysis using a range of tools and techniques. Experience with PLEXOS highly desirable.
