Description As a Civil Works Manager, you will be responsible for securing and delivering asphalt surfacing projects across the civil works market. Based out of Downer’s offices at Brendale you’ll play a critical role in work winning, project planning, and project delivery, ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, and profitably. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Build and maintain strong customer relationships, proactively identifying and converting business opportunities into a profitable pipeline of work. Prepare accurate project estimates and contribute to competitive tender submissions and market-winning strategies. Develop and implement detailed project delivery plans, including resourcing, materials, subcontractors, and scheduling. Lead end-to-end project delivery, ensuring outcomes meet financial, contractual, technical, environmental, and customer requirements. Monitor and control project performance, including cost tracking, forecasting, and margin management. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless coordination across production, scheduling, and operational functions. Complete project close-out activities, including documentation, invoicing, and capturing lessons learned for continuous improvement. Champion a strong Zero Harm safety culture, ensuring compliance with all safety systems, processes, and reporting requirements. ABOUT YOU 10 years’ experience in asphalt pavement and civil works projects. Certificate in Project Management and/or Civil Engineering (preferred). Demonstrated experience across work winning, planning, and delivery. Strong customer relationship and stakeholder management skills. Expertise in project estimating, cost management, and contract administration. A solid understanding of asphalt paving best practices and delivery excellence.
