A growing multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is looking for a Civil Engineer to take ownership of projects across land development, stormwater, civil infrastructure, and site civils for commercial and residential developments. This is a hands on design and delivery role, not a paper pushing one. You'll be running projects, dealing directly with clients, and shaping the technical output that goes out the door. What you'll be doing Designing and delivering civil works across subdivisions, commercial developments, industrial sites, and infrastructure projects, including stormwater, earthworks, pavements, water and sewer reticulation, and road geometry. Producing design documentation, drawings, specifications, and reports to a standard that holds up in front of councils, SA Water, DIT, and clients. Managing projects end-to-end: scoping, fee proposals, programming, budget tracking, and client liaison. Coordinating with structural, electrical, hydraulic, and survey disciplines internally, and with architects, planners, and contractors externally. Reviewing the work of junior engineers and drafters, and mentoring where it makes sense. Attending site as required for pre-construction, inspections, and handover. What we're actually looking for We care more about what you can do than where you studied. If you can demonstrate the following, we want to talk: Solid civil consulting experience in the Australian market, ideally South Australia, but Australian or Overseas experience is fine if you understand SA specific requirements (or are willing to learn quickly). Strong working knowledge of AS/NZS standards relevant to civil works, council DPTI/Open Space requirements, SA Water technical standards, and stormwater design principles (rational method, MUSIC, DRAINS or 12d). Hands-on competency with 12d Model, Civil 3D, or equivalent. You should be able to drive the software yourself, not just check someone else's work. A track record of delivering projects on time and on fee, with clients who'd take your call again. Clear communication across written reports, client meetings, and contractor RFIs. If you can explain a design decision without burying it in jargon, you'll do well here. CPEng / RPEQ is a bonus but not a hard requirement. Chartered status pathway is supported if you're not there yet. What's on offer Genuine project ownership from day one. You won't be sitting in someone else's checking queue. Salary aligned to experience and what you bring, not a band you got slotted into. A team that actually talks to each other across disciplines, not siloed practice groups. A clear path to senior / principal level for the right person. Flexible working arrangements once you're up and running.
