Title:- Senior Financial Crime Manager Sydney | Hybrid Working | Permanent An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Financial Crime Manager to join a growing financial services organisation. This role will lead the Transaction Monitoring, KYC and Enhanced Customer Due Diligence (ECDD) functions, with responsibility for ensuring the effectiveness of financial crime detection, investigation, escalation and reporting frameworks. This is a rare opportunity for someone who enjoys both leadership and being hands-on. Whilst you will be responsible for leading and developing a team, you will also remain actively involved in investigations, advisory activities, transaction monitoring, KYC reviews, ECDD assessments and complex case decision-making. This is a true all-round Financial Crime leadership role offering broad exposure across operational and strategic responsibilities. Reporting into senior leadership, you will play a key role in strengthening the organisation's financial crime control environment, driving operational excellence, and ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations. The role will initially oversee a team of approximately 11 direct reports, with further growth expected as the function continues to expand. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the Transaction Monitoring, KYC, ECDD and Financial Crime Investigations functions. Provide leadership, coaching and development to a team of approximately 11 financial crime professionals. Remain hands-on across complex investigations, advisory matters, transaction monitoring alerts, customer reviews and financial crime escalations. Act as a senior escalation point for high-risk customers, unusual activity and sensitive financial crime matters. Oversee and enhance financial crime detection, investigation and customer due diligence frameworks. Ensure effective management of KYC, onboarding, periodic reviews and enhanced due diligence activities. Drive consistency, quality and regulatory compliance across all financial crime operations. Own and enhance financial crime detection and investigation frameworks to ensure they remain risk-based, scalable and effective. Ensure high-quality regulatory reporting, including Suspicious Matter Reports (SMRs), in line with legislative obligations. Develop and monitor operational KPIs, KRIs and SLAs to measure effectiveness and drive continuous improvement. Drive workflow optimisation through technology, automation and data-led insights. Maintain and enhance Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and internal policies. Ensure strong governance, documentation and audit readiness across all financial crime processes. Partner with Compliance, Risk, Legal and senior stakeholders to identify and manage emerging financial crime risks. About You Extensive experience within Financial Crime, AML/CTF and Fraud environments. Strong expertise across Transaction Monitoring, KYC, ECDD, investigations and financial crime typologies. Proven experience leading Financial Crime Operations teams whilst remaining actively involved in technical casework and investigations. Strong knowledge of Australian AML/CTF obligations, regulatory expectations and reporting requirements. Experience managing high-risk customers, complex investigations and regulatory reporting. Demonstrated ability to build, improve and scale financial crime frameworks and controls. Experience managing KPIs, KRIs, SLAs and operational performance metrics. Strong understanding of governance, risk management and audit requirements. Ability to leverage data, analytics and technology to improve financial crime controls and operational efficiency. Exceptional stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leaders and drive positive outcomes. Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment where strategic leadership and hands-on delivery are equally important.
