The Opportunity ASIO is seeking to appoint a number of Intelligence Assessment Officers (Security Assessors – APS5 equivalent level) as part of a key recruitment campaign supporting its critical national security mission. Working within a highly secure environment, you will analyse information from multiple sources, identify risks and indicators, and prepare evidence-based assessments that directly support important government decision-making. Assessors contribute to security assessments relating to visas, citizenship, security clearances, secure access arrangements and major events, helping protect Australia's national interests. The Role Key responsibilities include: Undertaking research, checks and enquiries to inform security assessments Reviewing and analysing information from a variety of sources Identifying risks, gaps and relevant indicators within large volumes of information Preparing clear, accurate and evidence-based written assessments Exercising judgement to determine appropriate lines of enquiry Maintaining accurate records and case documentation Liaising with internal and external stakeholders regarding case progression Contributing to time-sensitive assessments within a high-volume operational environment The Ideal Person Successful candidates may come from a range of backgrounds, including: Risk, compliance and regulatory environments such as banking, insurance, healthcare, retail, energy Investigations and law enforcement Financial crime, AML or fraud investigations Intelligence and national security Government policy, program delivery or assessment roles Case management and decision-making functions You will bring: Strong analytical and critical thinking capability Sound judgement and decision-making skills The ability to assess complex information and reach defensible conclusions Excellent written communication and attention to detail Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively Resilience and adaptability in a dynamic environment Australian Citizenship (essential) While previous intelligence experience may be beneficial, ASIO is interested in candidates with transferable analytical skills and the ability to learn, analyse information and make sound decisions.
