The Role Reporting to the Senior Financial Accountant, you will enjoy a highly varied 360-degree assistant accountant role. You will take true ownership of core transactional processes, keep our cash flow moving, and play a vital role in month-end and compliance reporting. You will be heavily involved in maintaining statutory compliance, and advising on internal accounting workflows. Key Responsibilities & Tasks ● Financial & Statutory Reporting: Assist with preparation of the financial statements for presentation to management, governing and statutory bodies. ● Managing the general ledger including preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations, banking and management of inter-company transactions and balances ● Accounts Payable (AP): Take full ownership of the AP process, reconcile supplier statements, manage approvals within delegated authority limits, and maintain up-to-date supplier records. ● Accounts Receivable (AR): Create and maintain debtor master files, raise milestone invoices for productions and ad-hoc invoices, maintain the AR database, and confidently follow up on outstanding balances. ● Credit Cards & Banking Daily Operations: Administer our expense management system, manage staff credit cards (including adjusting limits), and import monthly submissions with precise GL coding and GST accuracy. Handle daily cash balance updates and weekly production account transfers. ● Production Recharges: Own the end-to-end recharge process to Productions, including raising invoices for credit cards and AP recharges, preparing backup documentation, and following up. ● Month-End Duties: Reconcile Head Office and production bank accounts, handle AP/AR, trial balances, post month-end accruals, manage the Fixed Asset register (depreciation &GL reconciliation), and complete intercompany reconciliations. ● Compliance Support: Assist with GST, WHT, and BAS returns, look after Payment Times, Reporting, help set up new users/accounts on banking platforms, and support the wider finance team during the end-of-year audit. About You To be successful in this role, you should have a solid foundation in transactional accounting and a deep understanding of standard accounting procedures. We are looking for: ● Prior experience in a varied Assistant Accountant or senior bookkeeping role (experience in media, television, or entertainment is a huge plus!). ● Strong technical understanding of AP, AR, bank reconciliations, and general ledger coding. ● Solid grasp of Australian tax compliance, including GST, BAS, and withholding tax. ● High attention to detail and intermediate-to-advanced Excel skills (you'll be working closely with spreadsheets and Google Sheets). ● Excellent communication skills—you’ll be collaborating with production crew, external vendors, and internal stakeholders regularly. ● A proactive mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. ● Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline to satisfy the requirements of a professional Accountant role.
