Communications Officer / Communications Manager Location: Canberra, ACT. Cogito Group is an Australian cyber security company delivering high-assurance digital identity, PKI, encryption and secure cloud solutions for government, defence, critical infrastructure and enterprise customers. We are looking for a capable and motivated Communications Officer / Communications Manager to help strengthen how Cogito tells its story across our brands, customers, partners and industry audiences. This role would suit either a strong communications all-rounder ready to step up, or an experienced communications professional who can bring structure, clarity and confidence to Cogito’s internal and external messaging. About the role You will support and lead communications activity across Cogito Group, working closely with marketing, sales, technical teams and senior leadership. The role will focus on turning complex cyber security, PKI and digital identity concepts into clear, compelling and audience-appropriate content. You will help communicate Cogito’s capability, values, technical leadership and customer outcomes across channels including web, social media, proposals, case studies, events, campaigns and internal communications. Depending on your experience, this role may be appointed at either Communications Officer or Communications Manager level. What you’ll be doing Developing clear, professional and engaging written content for Cogito Group and its brands. Creating communications for websites, social media, newsletters, capability statements, brochures, presentations, case studies and campaigns. Supporting the delivery of marketing and communications plans across cyber security, PKI, digital identity and secure managed services. Working with technical subject matter experts to translate complex information into plain-English messaging. Supporting event communications, including pre-event promotion, speaker support, collateral, follow-up content and post-event reporting. Helping maintain consistent brand voice, tone and messaging across Cogito’s external channels. Drafting internal communications, staff updates and business announcements where required. Supporting media, PR and industry communications opportunities. Contributing to award submissions, customer success stories, proposal content and thought leadership articles. Monitoring communications performance and recommending improvements. Supporting the broader marketing function with planning, coordination and content delivery. For a manager-level candidate, the role may also include Owning the communications calendar and editorial planning. Developing messaging frameworks for Cogito’s key services and brands. Managing communications priorities across multiple internal stakeholders. Reviewing and improving communications processes, templates and approval workflows. Coaching junior staff or coordinating external suppliers where required. About you You are a clear communicator, strong writer and organised operator who enjoys working with technical teams and complex subject matter. You do not need to be a cyber security expert, but you should be curious, willing to learn and comfortable working in a high-assurance technology environment. You will bring: Experience in communications, marketing communications, content, PR, journalism, stakeholder engagement or a similar role. Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills. The ability to turn technical or complex information into clear, practical and engaging content. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Confidence working with internal stakeholders, including technical teams and senior leaders. Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities. A proactive, collaborative and hands-on approach. An interest in cyber security, digital identity, technology, government or defence sectors. Desirable experience Experience in any of the following would be highly regarded: Cyber security, technology, SaaS, ICT, defence, government or professional services communications. B2B marketing or communications. Proposal, tender or capability statement writing. LinkedIn and social media content creation. Website content management. Event communications. Case studies, white papers or thought leadership content. Working with technical SMEs, engineers, consultants or product teams.
